Joanne was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2009. Prior to that, she graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Liverpool and was subsequently called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2008.
She mainly handles litigation matters concerning family disputes where she garnered experience from highly contentious matrimonial proceedings involving cross border divorces, custody of children, interfaith conversions & division of matrimonial assets which are reported in Malaysian legal journals and leading local newspapers. Although her practice primarily focuses on matrimonial disputes, she has wide-ranging expertise in representing individuals and companies on litigious matters such as defamation, breach of contract, directors & shareholders disputes, winding up and liquidations.
She also partakes in public interest litigations which are recognised as landmark cases both in Malaysia and internationally. She is currently serving as an active member of the Bar Council Family Law Committee and Constitutional Law Committee.
